Bernadette Peters

 

Bernadette (nee Lazzara) Peters is an American actress and singer. She has appeared in films, television, musical theatre , and solo concerts, and also recorded recordings. Her career spans over six decades. She is an acclaimed Broadway performer. She has earned seven Tony Awards nominations (plus an honorary award) in addition to nine Drama Desk Award nominations. Four of her Broadway casting albums in which she has performed have won Grammy Awards.



 



 Many believe Peters to be the top Stephen Sondheim interpreter. She is well-known for performances on Broadway including Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (1884), Song and Dance (1885), Into the Woods with George (1987), The Goodbye Girl (1993), Annie Get Your Gun (1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2010), Follies (2009), and Hello, Dolly (2018).
